Issues and Stances
Taxation
Nashville doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending and priorities problem. I will not support any tax increases on residents. We need to demand better use of the money we already collect. That means stricter accountability, transparent budgeting, and making sure our dollars are actually improving safety, infrastructure, and services — not wasted in inefficiency or politics.
How? I will fight for stronger enforcement of existing revenue sources — collecting unpaid fines, capturing developer fees, and actually increasing traffic enforcement to use a portion of those penalties to fund things like police support and road improvements. We all see the reckless driving on our highways, the street racing, the lack of registrations, the stop light runners. I think we can all get onboard with ticketing people who blatantly break our traffic laws and make our roads less safe.
Safety
Nashville needs to breath safety, in every district and neighborhood. I support and will advocate for more incentives and pay for MNPD, active enforcement of the law, and more accountability. Offenders should NOT be given bail if they commit violent offenses, especially given the propensity to re-offend during that period. My community has fallen victim to this on too many occasions, and I will not stand for it. I believe wholeheartedly in second chances and forgiveness, but if you commit a violent crime, you forfeit that consideration.
I will fight to ‘Light up the block’ in every dark corner and neighborhood of Nashville. Light is the enemy to crime, and we need to ensure folks feel safe even at night.
I will fight to protect and expand bike lanes, speed bumps, and traffic calming measures across Nashville. The current system is stalled and cumbersome, we need to move past a ‘nomination’ period for traffic calming and safety and make it a year round initiative.
I will empower Hub Nashville to do MORE in able to get things done. The more resources they have, the safer and more accountable your neighborhoods will be.
Reckless Driving
Nashville has a serious reckless driving problem. I will fight to increase fines and penalties for street racing, reckless speeding, and overall reckless driving. Nobody should have to worry if their commute to work is going to end in disaster. District mention: Issues Elm Hill Pike, Stewarts Ferry Pike, and Bell Road will be addressed. Large speed bumps, lights, and potentially cameras will be installed for the sole reason of discouraging and prosecuting reckless driving. Residents here are fed up with the street racing and reckless driving along these routes.
We will actively ENFORCE and prosecute HOV lane violators. You shouldn’t have to see people breaking the law everyday while you wait in traffic like you’re suppose to. It’s disrespectful to everyone when we have so many people disregarding this law. Proceeds from HOV violations will be directed back to MNPD and the city to increase budgets for roadwork, parks upkeep, and other beautification projects. This initiative is clear cut, and there can be no targeting or confusions— if you drive solo in the HOV lanes, you will be fined.
Balanced Growth
I love Nashville and want it to continue to flourish, but not at the expense of our parks, green spaces, and wildlife areas. I believe we can both grow, and protect these valuable lands. I will propose an equal treatment of growth and conservation— for developers looking to build in Nashville, I will advocate for an equal area of land that needs to be protected. This balanced approach will make sure our kids have parks to play at, animals have homes to thrive, and Nashville continues to thrive.
Accountability for Constituents
You can expect to be able to reach me, and you can expect real responses to your concerns and feedback, not just cookie-cutter generic email responses. My biggest pet peeve in politics has been the unwillingness for officials to make themselves available to constituents, and to be genuine in their remarks. After all, your tax dollars pay their salaries.
